A dentist who opened a new office in eastern Idaho is giving a local resident a $50,000 smile, according to a story on kpvi.com.
Val Davies, who won the dentist's Smile Makeover contest, is a retired man who takes care of his diabetic wife.
Bret Davis, D.M.D., who just opened the Davis Dental Studio in Pocatello, ID, told the TV station, "It doesn't make any sense financially, but it sure is a lot of fun."
Davies, who says he is dentist-phobic, doesn't have dental insurance and learned to smile with his mouth closed to hide his neglected teeth.
Davies was grateful to get a new smile. "It was a good thing to get good news in our life now," he is quoted in the story.
Dr. Davis told KPVI it felt good to help change someone's life for the better. "We always feel when we give something, you always get it back," he said.
