Cleft charity featured on 'The Doctors' TV show

Cleft charity Smile Train traveled to India in March to perform free cleft palate surgeries, and footage from that trip was aired in an episode of "The Doctors" TV show on July 14.

Smile Train's mission is to help the millions of children in developing countries who suffer from unrepaired clefts.

"We were thrilled to have this opportunity on 'The Doctors' to tell our story and build awareness of the problem of clefts so that even more children can be helped," said Brian Mullaney, co-founder and president of Smile Train, in a press release.

Andrew Ordon, M.D., one of the hosts of the show, performed surgery on Mantasha, a 19-month-old girl from a poor family who had a cleft lip.

"Helping to change the lives of such deserving and sweet children born with cleft lips and palates made me feel proud to be a plastic and reconstructive surgeon utilizing my skills for such a noble cause," Dr. Ordon said.
