Utah firm donates $500K to Operation Smile

HandStands, which makes car air fresheners, has donated more than $500,000 to Operation Smile over the last 20 years, helping nearly 2,100 children around the world.

Operation Smile is a charity that treats facial deformities such as cleft lips and cleft palates all around the world.

HandStands, a Utah-based company, was recognized this month by Gov. Gary Hebert for its contributions during its affiliation with Operation Smile's Utah chapter.

"So many of these children are outcasts in their own communities simply because they have a cleft palate," said company president Alan Wheatley in a press release. "Operation Smile changes lives by providing the surgeries necessary to give these deserving children not only a new smile, but also the foundation for happy and productive lives."
