Star Spangled Smiles offers free restorations to some military

Gannett, an international news and information company, is offering promotional support to ClearChoice Dental Implant Center's Star Spangled Smiles program, through which 18 members of the military and veterans across the U.S. will receive a complete set of dental implants and new teeth at no cost to them.

These full-mouth restorations collectively are valued at more than $1 million, according to the company.

Individuals can nominate deserving veterans for the program by submitting essays to the Star Spangled Smiles Web site.

Seven Gannett TV stations -- WXIA-TV in Atlanta; WKYC-TV in Cleveland; KUSA-TV in Denver; KPNX-TV in Phoenix; KSDK-TV in St. Louis; KXTV in Sacramento, CA; and WUSA-TV in Washington, DC -- are participating, as are two Gannett newspapers, USA Today and the Arizona Republic.

In April, the participating Gannett TV stations and newspapers will encourage people to nominate service members and veterans for the program through a series of ads. During May and June, the winners will undergo the dental procedures, and in July those same Gannett TV stations and newspapers will promote them with "reveal ads" and promotions showing how the procedures have changed the participants' lives.
