The American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) is gearing up to celebrate National Prosthodontics Awareness Week (NPAW), which takes place March 7-13. ACP members will provide pro bono services and educational programs regarding prosthodontic care, according to an ADA News story.
NPAW aims to educate the public about the benefits of seeing a prosthodontist and raise awareness about treatment options for missing or restoring teeth.
The event started at ACP's annual meeting in 2009 with oral cancer screenings for 120 people. In a similar spirit, this year's campaign will focus on community outreach programs such as oral cancer screenings, health fairs, and informational announcements to raise the public's awareness, the story states.
"The level of excitement and commitment by the ACP membership to NPAW has been most incredible and all for the benefit of those patients with the greatest need," said Dr. Jonathan Wiens, ACP president-elect and NPAW chair in the story.
