Centrix has released Tempit-E, a moisture-activated temporary filling and sealing material.
Tempit-E is formulated with eugenol, an essential oil with antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. The moisture-activated material sets in five minutes and slightly expands to form a tighter seal.
The material is designed for use in general and pediatric dentistry. It can be used as a liner in deep preparations and can facilitate pulpal healing, especially for patients with reversible pulpal inflammation, according to Centrix.
To use Tempit-E, place the tip of the syringe into a moist cavity; squeeze the syringe with slow, steady pressure; and then tamp down with a wet instrument. At a patient's return visit, the filling can be removed by an explorer, the company noted.
