Osstell has launched the Osstell IDx osseointegration and implant stability monitoring system at this week's International Dental Show (IDS) in Cologne, Germany.
The device makes it easy to assess implant stability and the degree of osseointegration, ensuring that implants are stable enough for final restoration, according to the company. It also communicates with patients or the restorative dentists concerning the treatment plans.
The platform features an intuitive user interface and functional design that displays implant stability quotient (ISQ) measurements in an intuitive and easily interpreted way, according to the company. The Osstell IDx is combined with the new Osstell Connect, a set of online services for automatic ISQ data storage, sharing, and analysis of implant stability data.
Osstell Connect makes collaborations with colleagues easier; enables data backup, remote service, and support; and allows the user to analyze implant and treatment data through various platforms, the company noted.
The increasing need to objectively evaluate implant stability and osseointegration cannot be done by using traditional methods such as torque and percussion tests, Osstell said.
The Osstell IDx will also be launched at the Academy of Osseointegration's annual meeting in San Francisco on March 12. Initially, it will be available in U.S. and selected European markets, with other markets to follow pending regulatory approvals.
