CDA journal focuses on dental laboratories

The June issue of the Journal of the California Dental Association discusses dental laboratories and the latest advances in engineering, applied sciences, chemistry, biotechnology, and industry, the California Dental Association (CDA) announced.

In the article "Esthetic Transformation of a Failed Implant Reconstruction to Fixed-Supported Prosthesis: A Case Report," the authors describe a clinical situation in which an ill-fitting prosthesis supported by malpositioned dental implants was aesthetically transformed to fixed definitive restorations.

"Implant-Supported Full-Mouth Reconstruction Malo Implant Bridge" describes the clinical techniques and laboratory procedures for fabricating a predictable Malo implant bridge, involving application of an occlusal screw-retained implant superstructure on the basis of the All-on-4 concept.

This issue also presents a novel technique called ultimate ceramic veneer in which preparation is laboratory-guided and done after impression, meaning that, if necessary, the ceramist trims the model only where there is no space for the material. This is discussed in an article titled "Ultimate Ceramic Veneer: A Laboratory-Guided Preparation Technique for Minimally Invasive Laminate Veneers."

Other article titles include "The Importance of the Optical Properties in Dental Ceramic -- A Clinical Approach" and "Esthetic Considerations for the Treatment of the Edentulous Maxilla Based on Current Informatic Alternatives: Report of a Case."
