Biolase Technology is expanding its line of dental laser products with the EPIC 10 diode laser, which features a 940-nm wavelength with 10 watts of power.
The laser uses the company's ComfortPulse control technology, which is designed to help prevent potential tissue damage and keep patients comfortable by avoiding pain-inducing heat buildup at the surgical site. It includes a procedure-based graphical touchscreen and a built-in battery for a full day of operation. It will be used as a design platform to build more powerful versions with different combinations of laser wavelengths, Biolase noted in a press release.
The EPIC 10 is not yet available for sale in the U.S. and is pending 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
