Pulpdent has donated its Embrace fluoride varnish to a health and hygiene program for Guatemalan children.
The program is run by the nonprofit organization Mil Milagros (A Thousand Miracles), which partners with mothers, grandmothers, and teachers in Guatemala to prevent malnutrition and hunger and also ensure that children graduate healthy, literate, and prepared to continue their education, according to Pulpdent. The organization works with schools to provide oral healthcare and hygiene and also train community volunteers to provide oral hygiene instruction and apply fluoride varnish as part of its health and hygiene program.
"We are grateful to Pulpdent for partnering with us to provide our children with fluoride varnish. Most of our children never see a dentist. We have trained more than 50 indigenous Maya mothers and grandmother to apply Embrace fluoride varnish. The fluoride treatment, combined with our efforts to promote good oral hygiene through tooth brushing and clean water, will make a lasting difference on the health and well-being of these children and families," stated Margaret Blood, founder and executive director of Mil Milagros, in a press release.
