Ortho-Care launches ComfortBrace in the U.K.

Orthodontic distributor Ortho-Care is introducing ComfortBrace strips -- an alternative to dental wax -- in the U.K.

ComfortBrace strips protect the mouth from the wear and tear of metal braces and are popular with fixed lingual brace wearers, according to the company. The clear, thin plastic protective strips adhere to teeth and braces, and improve mouth comfort by eliminating pain and irritation, the company noted.

The strips are simple to use; have good adhesive quality; can be worn for long periods of time; stay in place whether the wearer is eating, drinking, or sleeping; and are mint flavored, according to Kelvin Scott, Ortho-Care director.

Wearers simply use scissors to cut the strip to size, peel off the backing, moisten their teeth with saliva or water, and apply the strip across their braces, wrapping securely around brackets and wires. The adhesive technology ensures that the strips stay in place.

ComfortBrace retails at 19.50 pounds ($31.16 U.S.) for a box of 24 strips.
