Calif. dentists create 3D adventure film for kids

A group of pediatric and orthodontic specialists from San Diego have teamed up to produce a 3D action film, "The Super Dentists -- Strike Back."

Orthodontist Kami Hoss, DDS, said the group decided to make another film after seeing how much children and their parents enjoyed the first kid adventure movie they produced in 2004.

In the new movie, the evil villain Cavitar and his sidekick Molar capture dentists all over San Diego and hold them captive in their "lair" at the candy store. The Super Dentists pretend to get captured to save the others, but lose their superpowers after being sprayed with candy. It is then up to the Super Kids to find out which superpowers each of them possess, so that they can team up to help save the Super Dentists. The Super Dentists capture the evil Cavitar and Molar as they try to take over the world with sugar.

Nazli Keri, DDS, said they hope the 3D movie will capture the attention of children and their parents in a way that will make them feel that they are helping.

The goal is to help children obtain healthy smiles so that they can have a positive outlook about themselves, increase their self-esteem, and have super smiles, Dr. Hoss said. They hope to educate children about sugar and what they can do to fight cavities and crooked teeth.

The movie is scheduled to be released in June.
