Pulpdent donated products at the dental clinic held last month at the Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, NC, the company announced.
The company provided Embrace WetBond pit-and-fissure sealant, Etch-Rite etching gel, and Flecta disposable mirrors to be used at the clinic.
Each dental hygienist worked with a volunteer registered dental hygienist or dental assistant to place dental sealants on 38 children from Northwoods Elementary School. The team of volunteers and students placed 195 sealants.
Pulpdent has provided sealants to other programs like the one in Jacksonville. "We believe that the key to good oral health in adults is the placement of dental sealants in childhood," said Fred Berk of Pulpdent in a press release. "Because Embrace does not require a dry field, Embrace WetBond sealants can be placed quickly, a real advantage when dealing with children and working at school-based programs."
The company has developed a public health kit that includes sealants, supplies, posters, and "Embracelets" that can be given out to children as a reward for participating in the program.
