SmileDirectClub has launched aligners to straighten teeth during sleep.
The new Nighttime Clear Aligners are for patients age 12 and older with mild crowding and spacing issues, the company noted. They're designed for people unable to wear clear aligners during the day because of their job or lifestyle.
The new aligners only require 10 hours of continuous wear, giving patients more flexibility, according to SmileDirectClub. The length of wear time is shorter than the recommended time for most other aligners, for which patients are typically instructed to only take them out when eating and drinking.
The Nighttime Clear Aligners are currently only available in the U.S. SmileDirectClub charges $1,895 for a one-time payment or $85 per month for 24 months plus a $250 deposit.
