Sirona Dental Systems has expanded its orthodontic product line to include Align Technology's Invisalign digital impression submission, the company announced at this week's International Dental Show (IDS) in Cologne, Germany.
Cerec Omnicam and the new Cerec Ortho software can now be used to submit digital impressions for Invisalign clear aligner therapy. The Cerec Ortho SW 1.1 features a patent-pending guided scanning process and connects Cerec with Invisalign treatment. Digital models created from Cerec Omnicam intraoral data are transferred to Align Technology and used as part of the record submission for an Invisalign treatment.
"After 30 years of leading dentistry into a digital era, Sirona's focus has expanded to orthodontics," stated Jeffrey Slovin, president and CEO of Sirona, in a press release. "Today's announcement is another example of our strategy to provide best-in-class products and customer support, as we integrate the market leader in clear aligner treatment into Cerec."
The new software, exclusive for Cerec Omnicam systems, will be available in selected markets by this summer.
