Align Technology, Inc. has announced the launch of Vivera retainers -- clear retainers made from the same technology as Invisalign aligners. These subscription-based retainers will be delivered to dentists or directly to the patient four times a year.
"Vivera retainers were created to fit the needs of patients' busy lifestyles," said Rick Matty, general manager, new products at Align Technology in a press release. "Not only do patients get the convenience of fresh retainers delivered to their door throughout the year, they get a retainer that works."
Align claims that Vivera's thermoplastic material is more than 30 percent stronger than other clear retainer materials. This quality is crucial to retaining teeth in their final position according to the company. Vivera retainers can be used by both Invisalign and non-Invisalign patients. The lab fee for four sets is $275.
Vivera retainers are currently available in select markets; general availability happens in late November. Initially, the retainers will only be available through Invisalign-certified doctors in North America.
