Root canals delay rapper's prison sentence

Rapper Lil' Wayne is getting more media attention than ever before, thanks to some root canal surgery. The singer got a month's reprieve from a prison sentence to undergo a reported eight root canals in a single session on February 16, according to a story in the New York Daily News. The story also features a picture of the rapper's famous diamond-studded "grill."

The eight-hour procedure included redoing existing tooth implants, adding new implants, and repairing the few real teeth Wayne reportedly has left.

The daylong surgery had one advantage for Lil' Wayne: It postponed the start of his prison sentence for felony attempted gun possession. A New York judge agreed to put off the rapper's sentencing until March 2 so he could fly to Miami for oral surgery.
