A new art exhibit in Germany pays homage to the mouth. Originally opening on October 31 but currently closed due to lockdown measures, the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg exhibit is called "In aller Munde. Von Pieter Bruegel bis Cindy Sherman," which roughly translates to "On Everyone's Lips. From Pieter Bruegel to Cindy Sherman."
The idea for the show came from literary scholar Hartmut Böhme and Berlin dentist Beate Slominski, and the exhibit is the first of its kind in Germany.
Curator Uta Ruhkamp combed through the works of various artists and included pieces by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, Albrecht Dürer, Pablo Picasso, Marina Abramović, and Andy Warhol, to name a few. In the end, the exhibit showcases 250 works from antiquity to the present, with paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs, drawings, and video art.
