Week in Review: Dentist dishes on his DSO experience | Calling the cops over a toothbrush | ADA rescinds prayer policy

Dear DrBicuspid Member,

When it comes to readership statistics, it would be very fair to call me a geek. I constantly check Google Analytics and other software systems to see what articles our members are reading every hour of every day. It's a fascinating journalism lesson and helps me and my team plan ahead for editorial content that will meet your needs.

I have quickly learned that our audience is very interested in what is happening inside the world of dental service organizations (DSOs). Before the end of 2019, I published my interview with a hygienist working for Aspen Dental as he told me what it was really like to work for a DSO. It turned out to be one of the most-read articles in December.

Knowing the interest in DSOs was there, I decided to interview a dentist who worked for Aspen Dental as well, asking him some of the questions you would likely ask. I believe my interview with Dr. Ryan Evans was very interesting and enlightening, and I hope you find it in the same manner.

I also published another dentist interview this week and Dr. Ryan Molis dished out some tips on how Invisalign has helped him grow his practice. If you're offering clear aligners in your practice, you won't want to miss his advice.

During a busy week, you might have missed this piece of news on a big change from the ADA as it rescinded its "The Dentist's Prayer" policy and amended its policy on recognition of religious diversity.

On the lighter side, how far would you go to get an Oral-B electric toothbrush for almost nothing? A multimedia journalist took it to the limit when a Target manager in Massachusetts refused to sell him a display brush that was priced at a penny. You won't believe just how far the man took his quest for that toothbrush and how it soon involved the police.

Finally, we were pleased this week to announce the winners of the 2019 DrBicuspid Dental Excellence Awards. I hope you will take a moment to check out which companies took home the honors in 10 different categories.

Today begins the second month of a new decade. What changes did you make to boost your career and your business in January? Did you keep your business-related New Year's resolutions? We always love to hear your success stories, and you can share them with me at [email protected].
