More households will be giving out candy on Halloween this year if current trends hold, according to a new analysis by the Delta Dental Plans Association.
Delta Dental polled parents in 2013 and 2015 about their Halloween candy giving and then conducted a comparative analysis predicting what trick-or-treaters can expect to get this year. The survey showed that 73% of parents gave out candy in 2013, but 78% of parents say they'll hand out candy this year.
The analysis also found the following in 2015:
- 59% of parents will give out chocolate, which is the most handed out Halloween candy.
- 61% of parents will limit the amount of Halloween candy their child can eat at a time, down from 89% in 2013.
- 66% of parents expect they'll eat some of their child's candy, down from 79% of parents in 2013.
