Carrie Brown, DMD, has been chosen as the new president of the National Dental Association (NDA).
Dr. Brown, who practiced in Lexington, KY, for 38 years before retiring in 2012, received her dental degree from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry.
One of her priorities as NDA president is to recruit more minority dental students, according to an American Dental Education Association story. Dr. Brown also wants to stay abreast of the effects of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) as the program rolls out.
The NDA has 48 chapters in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean, representing 6,000 minority dentists. The organization was formed in 1913 and is the largest association of its kind in the world.
