The chairwoman of the Kentucky Senate's Health and Welfare Committee has taken a job with Managed Care of North America (MCNA) Dental Plans, a Florida company that processes and pays dental claims for Medicaid patients in Kentucky, and watchdogs are concerned this could be a conflict of interest, according to an Associated Press story.
Sen. Julie Denton (R-Louisville), a former dental hygienist, is working as a liaison between the company and dentists who treat Medicaid patients, according to the story.
MCNA has a $20 million contract with another company, Passport Health Plan, that works for the state.
Denton believes there is no conflict of interest, according to the story.
