The Delta Dental Foundation has awarded five new dentists for committing to practice in underserved communities.
The awards are worth $25,000 each for a commitment to practice for at least a year in a Health Professional Shortage Area. The winners must practice in the state in which they attended school, according to the foundation.
Four individuals received the foundation's new Community Commitment Award:
- Trevor Kay, University of Detroit Mercy
- Nichole Barnett, Indiana University
- Jacob Venoy, Ohio State University
- Lina Torres, Case Western Reserve University
A fifth student, Chelsea Pinozek from the University of Michigan, received a similar award known as the Patrick P. Gribben Jr. Community Commitment Award.
