Arizona's Senate Health and Human Services Committee unanimously passed a new bill that would require background checks for dental professionals.
The bill would require dentists to obtain a fingerprint clearance card before they can practice in Arizona, according to an ABC15 news story. Dentists already practicing in the state would not have to go through the process, however.
The bill passed through the state's House of Representatives last week with a vote of 50 to 8. It must still pass a full Senate vote and be approved by the governor before it becomes law.
Other states such as California, Nevada, and New Mexico already require dentists to go through a full background check.
