Dental Practice Made Simple is a video series from DrBicuspid.com and Levin Group. Tune in every Wednesday for a quick tip from Dr. Roger P. Levin to learn how to build high-powered, proven systems that lead to practice success.

Dr. Roger P. Levin recently got a call from a client who was concerned he was being underpaid based on the codes he was using for dental insurance claims. He passed along the advice he gave the dentist in the latest episode of Dental Practice Made Simple.

Because Levin is not a coding expert, he advised the dentist to call the insurance company and find out which code is best to use. He suggests telling the insurance company the service you're providing and then asking what codes you can legitimately use and what their definitions are.

"When you call the insurance company, they will give you a real answer," Levin said.

Chances are, your production will go up after the phone call, Levin said. That's because more practices are undercoding as opposed to overcoding.

Learn more about how to properly code your dental insurance claims in the video below.
