Fla. Medicaid ruling; Williams on insurance coding; Levin on your decision-making process

Dear DrBicuspid Member,

Happy new year. I hope it finds you well. We've launched a Practice Management Community featuring the articles and insight to help you run your practice more efficiently.

It might be a new year, but some of the same issues follow us. On Friday, Features Editor Donna Domino reported that a federal judge has ruled that Florida's Medicaid program for children violates federally guaranteed rights to medical and dental care. Florida's history of low reimbursement has led to a lack of access to care for many children on Medicaid, according to the decision.

DrBicuspid.com has teamed with former dental insurance executive Dr. Doyle Williams to provide expertise to you and your staff for maximizing your patient's benefits. In his latest column, Dr. Williams addresses reader questions about gold and denture codes.

As practice owner and team leader, you need to make numerous decisions about management issues. To make this role easier, Dr. Roger P. Levin recommends separating decisions into those that will have little long-term effect on practice success and those that will have a significant impact. By spending less time on the former and more on the latter, you'll be a better leader -- and make better decisions.

With 2014 behind us, we review the most popular articles of last year. In part 2, we look at the top five stories, which included a dentist placing his own implant and a Small Smiles owner being excluded from Medicare and Medicaid.
