The pilot program was designed to increase access to cost-effective dental care by increasing the number of dentists available for Medicaid recipients, according to a Deseret News story.
The program, which was approved by state lawmakers, would have established preventive benefits for specific Medicaid populations.
Plans are in the works to extend dental care to Medicaid patients, but Utah health officials said it will be done in stages, the story noted.
