Eastern Dentists Insurance Company (EDIC) has negotiated an agreement with Medical Security, a subsidiary of Medical Mutual Insurance Company of North Carolina (MMICNC), to acquire its dental professional liability insurance business.
As a component of this transaction, EDIC will partner with MMIC Agency, also a subsidiary of Medical Mutual, to serve as its exclusive agent in North Carolina, the organization announced.
Beginning with April 1, 2013, policy renewals, dentists currently insured with Medical Security will be transitioned to EDIC's dentists-only insurance coverage. In addition, EDIC has agreed to designate a North Carolina dentist to serve on its board of directors.
EDIC is a mutual insurance company owned and operated by dentists since 1992.
