A settlement has been reached in a class-action lawsuit involving 2,300 Connecticut dentists who claimed Anthem Health Plans underpaid them for services provided to patients
Under the terms of the settlement, Anthem will establish a $3.8 million fund that would be distributed among the 2,300 dentists. Anthem also agreed to make a $200,000 payment to the Connecticut State Dental Association (CSDA) that will be used to enable dental offices to improve their administrative practices.
The lawsuit, filed in 2002, covers dentists with contracts between 1996 and 2002. A Sept. 13 hearing is scheduled on final court approval of the settlement, according to the CSDA.
