MetLife has introduced a new Dental Health Maintenance Organization (DHMO) Met series of co-pay plans and will offer them through SafeGuard Health Plans, a MetLife company.
The new plans are currently available in California and, pending regulatory approval, will also be available in Florida and Texas.
"These plans now cover more than 400 procedures -- 60 more than the previous DHMO plans -- making the Met Series one of the most comprehensive DHMO plans in the market today," said Alan Hirschberg, vice president of MetLife Dental Products, who recently joined MetLife to oversee product and network development.
The dental benefits offered by the Met Series are in addition to the standard features of the DHMO plans, which include no patient claims or claim forms, no deductibles, no calendar year maximums, and an easy-to-understand schedule of benefits, the company said.
The plans are available as a stand-alone DHMO or as a dual-option combination with the MetLife DPPO.
