A bill introduced in the Massachusetts State Senate would prohibit insurance companies from limiting fees that dentists can charge on procedures not covered by the insurers.
SB 2562 was referred to the Joint Committee on Financial Services on July 21, 2010. So far, legislators have introduced bills to ban fee capping in 28 states, according to the Academy of General Dentistry.
In the past year, 12 states have passed such bills into law, by the count of the ADA.
