Only 3% of employers cut dental benefits for 2010, according to the Wells Fargo Benefits Marketplace Survey. The survey collected information on more than 320 employers of different sizes and from different industries nationwide.
By contrast, 74% made some kind of change to their health plan design, insurance carrier, offerings, or contribution. The most common change was asking employees to pay more, either by redesigning the plan (46%) or increasing payroll deductions (41%).
The survey was conducted during five weeks in December 2009 and January 2010, and gathered information on decisions employers made about benefit programs for 2010.
