United Concordia offers individual dental product line

Consumers living in Arizona, California, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Texas can now purchase individual dental insurance from United Concordia.

The new individual product line, iDental, offers five different plans geared toward meeting the needs of college students, young families, senior citizens, or anyone interested in portable and affordable dental insurance, explained a company press release.

Most of the iDental plans are designed to cover 100% of the cost of routine care, such as cleanings, exams, and X-rays; pay toward the cost of other covered procedures, including fillings and crowns; and take advantage of United Concordia Dental's discounted fees with network dentists.

"Some people think they cannot afford dental insurance or that they can pay for their preventive care and just hope for the best," said Sharon Muscarella, United Concordia's senior vice president of sales and chief marketing officer. "We developed our individual product line with the needs of those individuals in mind. Our wide range of individual dental policy options at affordable prices are designed to help people obtain the dental care they need to maintain good oral health."

Consumers can purchase iDental either from a broker or directly from United Concordia. United Concordia plans to roll out its individual product in additional states during 2010.

"Each plan takes advantage of our large network of dentists -- one of the largest in the nation -- and our substantial network discounts," said Jeff Ernst, the company's director of individual business development. "This means that a consumer's out-of-pocket savings may be greater by choosing a dentist in our network."
