Mercury Data Exchange (MDE) and United Concordia have implemented Real Time Adjudication (RTA), an approach to dental claims processing, the companies announced. This capability is now available for all United Concordia dental offices.
RTA provides immediate notification of a patient's responsibility for services provided, according to the companies. For those patients requiring future visits, RTA displays a patient's specific benefit coverage to the dental staff, allowing the practice to work with the patient to create a budget plan.
During the past six months, MDE has more than tripled the volume of RTA claims submitted to United Concordia, the companies said. MDE attributes this growth to dental providers' desire to increase administrative efficiencies, decrease cost, and improve patient service.
