Aetna offers standalone dental plans

Aetna has recently introduced standalone dental plans in Arizona, Delaware, Illinois, and Pennsylvania.

Families and individuals of all ages, including those eligible for Medicare, can apply. Plan prices will depend on age and geographic regions.

Applicants can choose from two PPO-style options: the Aetna Individual Advantage Dental PPO Plan and the Aetna Individual Advantage Dental PPO Plus Plan.

"The fact that 47 million individuals in our country do not have health insurance is often mentioned, but it is rarely noted that more than twice as many individuals lack dental insurance," said Frank McCauley, head of Aetna's consumer business segment in a press release. "We believe that a standalone dental product will help increase access to important dental care."

Aetna plans to expand this offer to other states in the future.
