ADA offers resource on identity theft

The ADA is offering a resource that provides dentists with information to respond to identity theft, according to ADA News.

The document, "Protecting Yourself From Identity Theft," describes steps that dentists can take in response to identity theft and also provides links to federal government resources, including the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and Social Security Administration, but it does not include information about state law requirements.

The resource also includes sections on "Protecting Yourself Is Important," "Warning Signs of Identity Theft," and "Action Items for Victims of Identity Theft."

The member-only resource is available on the ADA website. The ADA also has an identity-theft white paper available for purchase here.

The FTC and IRS have posted educational materials and other resources focusing on tax-related ID theft.
