Pennsylvania's dentists must carry malpractice insurance under a new law signed June 22 by Gov. Tom Corbett.
The law was passed unanimously by state legislators and was one of the last issues championed by the late Democratic state Sen. Michael O'Pake, according to a story in the Reading Eagle.
The issue was raised by O'Pake after he heard that several patients had been injured by a dentist who had no insurance.
Pennsylvania now is one of just 10 states requiring malpractice insurance for dentists.
