Employee at LSU oral surgery clinic arrested

A staff employee at the Louisiana State University (LSU) Health Sciences Center's Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Faculty Practice was arrested on April 8 for allegedly stealing controlled substances from the clinic, according to multiple news stories.

Dr. Mari-Alina Timoshchuk, 34, of New Orleans, was charged with possession of a schedule III drug, three counts of theft, and two counts of prohibited acts. Timoshchuk turned herself in to authorities on April 8. An arrest warrant for her had been filed since December 2024, according to the news stories.

Timoshchuk has been a resident at the clinic in Baton Rouge, LA, since 2021, according to her LinkedIn profile.

In October 2024, police were asked to investigate a theft at the faculty practice. The investigation revealed that Timoshchuk was allegedly stealing controlled substances from the facility, according to the stories.
