A dental assistant who lost her license following a conviction for driving while intoxicated with a child in the car was arrested for reportedly running an illegal dental practice in her Texas home, according to a story published on September 19 in ABC 13 Houston.
Maritza Villatoro, 37, was arrested on September 18 at her home in Houston and charged with practicing dentistry without a license. Upon her arrest, she was taken to jail, according to the story.
On the evening of September 18, authorities went to Villatoro's home and found what appeared to be a dental practice set up in a bedroom, which had dental machines set up next to a lawn chair. When police arrived, Villatoro reportedly was giving a person a dental cleaning, according to the story. Also, Villatoro is accused of performing orthodontic work and teeth whitening. The investigation began following a tip that had been made to police.
Until 2021, Villatoro had a dental assistant license. Her license was revoked after she was convicted of driving while intoxicated with a child in the car. Villatoro received deferred adjudication in that case, according to the story.
