Dentist accused of prescribing drugs to herself

A Vermont dentist is accused of using her U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration registration number to buy controlled substances for personal use, according to a press release dated March 18 from the Office of the Vermont Attorney General.

Dr. Catherine A. Cech, 64, of Arlington, VT, pleaded not guilty on March 18 to one felony count of prescription fraud at her arraignment. She was released after her arraignment on the condition that she restrict access to controlled substances, according to the release.

Authorities began investigating Cech after they received information alleging that she had been purchasing controlled substances for personal use by using her assigned DEA registration number.
