Delta Dental of California has delayed implementing a fee structure change that would better align reimbursement rates for certain providers with the market rate, according to the California Dental Association (CDA).
The CDA reported that the delay in implementation is due to uncertainty around the COVID-19 pandemic. The fee initiative would adjust reimbursements for endodontists, periodontists, and oral surgeons.
The fee structure is now scheduled to go into effect on July 1, 2021, six months after the original January 1 date. The insurer plans to release additional information about the delay soon, the CDA noted.
