Editor's note: This is a continuation of a yearlong series that is designed to help dentists and team members understand their practice management software better. Today, we are providing you with a tip from Tracey Thompson, a product trainer at Curve Dental. Later this month, we will have a question and answer from a Dentrix and an Eaglesoft expert. We are also working on the same article format with other practice management software systems.

Q: How can I accurately pull reports in Curve Hero to track the productivity of staff members who are delivering dental services?

A: Great question! Monitoring production can be helpful for a number of reasons, such as setting goals, tracking work in the office, or paying staff members. Finding the correct numbers is crucial.

Here are some things to consider:

Using the production summary: This report is built to drill down specifically into your production without showing additional information, such as collections, adjustments, etc. If you want a pure production number, this is the report to run.

Filtering the production summary: Doing this is extremely easy and can be utilized out of the box to get what you need. Simply set the date range and select the provider of the service. Once you have done this, you will be able to see a breakdown of each code, its frequency, and total production, as well as a grand total.

Finding adjusted production: Sometimes you want to find your adjusted production. This can be tricky, but can be done. The easiest method is accomplished by looking at your period summary. As before, you can simply set a date range and select the provider of service to see the production and adjustment columns from the report. Adjusted production is the sum of the production, with adjustments subtracted from production made over the same time period. These numbers can be found in the totals section of your period summary.
