Do's and don'ts for problem-solving: Be a problem-solver

A busy dental office will always experience its share of challenges and problems, but a positive attitude is often the first step to overcoming adversity. Think of a problem as an opportunity to improve performance.

Do

In meetings, focus on ways to meet challenges. A well-run staff meeting can have a highly positive impact on office morale. Rather than getting discouraged by problems, motivate your team to brainstorm to find solutions. This will improve performance and also help everyone approach the day with an upbeat attitude.

Don

Don't complain. Many people are given to complaining about the day's challenges. Instead of joining the crowd, be the person who offers solutions.
