Michigan state regulators recently finalized rules that allow dental therapists to obtain licenses and begin to practice in the state, according to a May 17 Pew Charitable Trusts article.
The new regulations went into effect in April and formally implement a 2018 law that made Michigan the eighth state to authorize the practice of dental therapy, the article noted. The addition of dental therapists will help expand dental care to Michigan's underserved population, according to Pew Charitable Trusts.
