NDA supports the IDDHLC

The National Dental Association (NDA) announced its support for the Interstate Dental and Dental Hygiene Licensure Compact (IDDHLC), which simplifies licensing across states.

At its July meeting, the NDA endorsed the compact, emphasizing the importance of hands-on exams to ensure competency and protect patients. Developed by the American Association of Dental Boards, the IDDHLC enables dentists and hygienists to obtain licenses in multiple states more easily.

It requires graduation from a Commission on Dental Accreditation-accredited school and passing the American Board of Dental Examiners exam.

Louisiana is the first state to join, with others advancing legislation to participate in the compact.
