Forward Science Technologies, manufacturer of the oral cancer screening device OralID, is offering the F.A.C.T. oral heath protocol for oral health assessment.
F.A.C.T. (fluorescence assessment and cytology test) combines the technology of fluorescence and the power of liquid cytology, according to the company.
After the standard of care white-light visual and palpation, the OralID is used for enhanced fluorescence assessment. Should a lesion be discovered and more information needed, a liquid-based cytology test (CytID) is used to determine the lesion's severity.
Fluorescence technology recognizes more than just cancer and allows for the discovery of other oral abnormalities from a palatal burn or lichen planus to squamous cell carcinoma, the company noted.
