The University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry is hosting an event this month in which area residents can receive free oral cancer screenings at the dental school's campus in San Francisco.
The free screenings, which will take place October 20 and 21, are being offered as part of the school's participation in the Oral Cancer Foundation's Campaign to Make Oral Cancer History.
The screenings include a visual and tactile examination by a dental expert. The painless and noninvasive screenings typically takes less than 10 minutes, according to the school.
This is the second time the dental school has offered free oral cancer screenings in 2011.
