Dentist visit saves teen's life

A 15-year-old girl from Derbyshire, U.K., underwent lifesaving treatment after a visit to the dentist revealed her blood pressure was high enough to cause a heart attack, according to a Telegraph news story.

Anna Campbell had gone to the dentist to have four teeth extracted when a test showed her blood pressure was dangerously high. Later a heart scan revealed that her aorta, which is typically 14 mm in diameter, had a diameter of just 2 mm, the paper reported.

"Her blood pressure was so high they couldn't find a pulse in her foot," Campbell's mother said in the story. "If she hadn't gone to have her teeth out, she would be dead."

Campell has now made a full recovery, the paper reported.
