Available for the first time in the U.S., SilverCare toothbrushes contain antibacterial silver that naturally kills oral and airborne bacteria that may land on the brush, according to the company.
The head of SilverCare toothbrushes are coated with antibacterial silver. When the head comes into contact with water, active silver ions are released, and a "natural and continuous antibacterial process begins," according to the company. This antibacterial process does not implement any chemical agents, SilverCare noted.
A study was done to evaluate the residual contamination of Streptococcus mutans on a conventional toothbrush compared with a SilverCare toothbrush after daily use. The data obtained demonstrates the antibacterial activity of the silver ions released from the surface of the toothbrush head reduce up to 99% of the bacterial charge, according to the company.
SilverCare antibacterial toothbrushes and oral care accessories are manufactured and distributed by Spazzolificio Piave of Onara, Italy.
