Ares Management, a private equity firm, wants to sell its Aspen Dental chain, according to Reuters news service. Ares has reportedly hired Moelis & Co. to auction off the dental management company in which Ares invested in 2006.
While similar investment firms might snap up the growing business, it could also end up in the hands of a rival dental office chain such as American Dental Partners, Reuters reported.
Aspen Dental has more than 235 locations in 20 states. In 2009, the company recorded more than 1.5 million patient visits, including visits from more than 340,000 new patients.
